Mary Frances Overby

Mary Frances Overby passed away on July 14, 2011 in Odessa at the age of 84. She was born in Grayson County, Texas, where she met her husband of 67 years, Derryl. They lived on a farm near Van Alstyne until moving to Penwell in 1951. She carried the mail for the Penwell area until June 1955 when the family moved to Odessa. She worked for Medical Center Hospital from 1955 until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and grandson, Kiley Collins.

She is survived by her husband Derryl; her daughter Sheryl and husband Ron Kimbrough of Abilene; her daughter Sue Overby of Midland; and two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who all loved her very much.

She will lie in state at Frank Wilson Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1820 South 52nd Street on Saturday, July 16th from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Van Alstyne, Texas on Monday July 18th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Chapel Hill Youth or Children's Ministry. Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
