Mary Priscilla Willis Rhoads

She was born February 2, 1927, in Amarillo, TX, to John Jerome and Mary Adele (Hunter) Willis. That same year the Willis family moved here to Odessa, TX. She married Warren Jake Rhoads June 8, 1948, in Odessa. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Baptist Church.

Mary enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She was an accomplished artist and member of the Porcelain Art Club, and past president of the Odessa Study Club. She and her husband, Jake, enjoyed fishing and were avid Odessa High School football fans. She was one of the first Meals on Wheels volunteers and participated in church groups such as Sunbeam, G.A., and Mission Odessa. God, family, and friends are what mattered most to her, and of that her life was a reflection. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jake Rhoads, and her son Donald Willis Rhoads.

She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Sue Rhoads of Odessa; brothers William Fredrick Willis and wife, Wanda, and Joseph Pyron Willis, all of Lampasas, TX; sister Sara Adele Harrington and husband, Russ of Odessa, and two granddaughters Alyson and Alyssa Rhoads.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to a First Baptist Church ministry or a charity of one’s choice.
