Mary Juanita Zellars

Mary Juanita Wilkins Zellars, Odessa, TX passed away Saturday evening August 21 at MCH. Married to Edwin Guy Zellars on September 14, 1947 by Reverend Jimmy Dolan in Odessa, TX at Second Baptist Church.

Nita had the great fortune of marrying her best friend and lifelong partner.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edwin Guy Zellars, her daughter Mona Johns of Odessa, TX and her daughter Lynne Zellars of Solana Beach, CA; niece and nephew Bonnie Blount and Tommy Wilkins of Odessa. She was preceded in death by her parents Hune Wilkins and Julia Lee Belcher-Wilkins of Breckenridge, TX

Nita graduated from Pecos High School in 1942.

Nita was employed as an Office Manager for Wapple’s Platter and West Texas Office Supply. Nita also owned her own Office Supply Company in Hobbs, NM.

She found her passion in her philanthropy in volunteering as a CAF Colonel. She also served as a Colonel’s Lady.

Visitation will be Tuesday August 24 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Frank Wilson W Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church with Don Norris will officiate, followed by the burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. At 6:00 pm following services there will be a celebration of Nita’s life with friends and family at the Desert Squadron at 411 Yukon Road.

Pall Bearers will be:

Steven Bracken, David Blount, Ray Pierson, Freddie Zellars, Leon Zellars, Leroy Zellars, Rodney Zellars and Dan Westlund.
