He married Tammy Mendoza on June 20, 2003. They were married for 21 years.
Mel is survived by his wife Tammy, son Jathian Rios, and daughters Sarah and Khara Chan.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 N. Jackson St., Odessa TX 79761.
Mel will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, in Riverside, California.
