

Oscar Paredes, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Odessa, Texas. He was on born June 24, 1929 in Colorado City ,Texas to Josê Maria and Jovita Gonzales Paredes with seven brothers and two sisters. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Army proudly, he was letter carrier with USPS for 35 years, where he was well liked by co-workers and customers alike. He then married the love of his life, Adelaida on November 28, 1959. They adopted Oscar Jr. and Elizabeth and together love conquered all. He was supportive in everything that his family participated, and family vacations, fishing, camping were among his favorite pastimes with his brothers, sisters, and family. Oscar was also an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic where he was an usher for many years, and willingly made himself available for any task that needed to be done. Every parishioner knew him. Oscar was an avid gardener as well, with an incredible green thumb. He could plant and nourish just about anything from fruit trees, vegetable, and pecan trees. He loved life to the fullest, even though he was quiet as a church mouse. He was proud of his family and his city.
Oscar Paredes, Sr., is survived by his sister, Lydia Turner, daughter, Elizabeth Paredes. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Adelaida, son, Oscar, Jr., brothers, Robert, Hector, Blackie (Bernardo), Chema (Joe M, II), Alejandro, Eddie (Edward), Conde (Frank, Sr.), and sister, Yolanda Pantoja;
many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Catholic Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Odessa with Father Benardito Getigan officiating. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. with rosary at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
