Robert was a proud graduate of Odessa High School and later attended Odessa College. He was a hardworking man who could do just about anything he put his mind to. Throughout his working years, he was a welder and machinist and was truly a jack of all trades. Whether he was working on a house, repairing a car, or figuring out how to make something work, Robert had a way of getting the job done. His knowledge and willingness to help others were qualities that will long be remembered.
Robert's greatest treasures were the people he shared his life with and the memories he made along the way. He had many friends throughout the years and enjoyed countless adventures and good times with them. He especially cherished his hunting memories with his friend Cruz, his friendship with Josie Vera, and the many memories shared with Steve, a good friend from his school days. These friendships brought Robert laughter, companionship, and stories that will continue to be told for years to come.
Robert was a loving father who created special memories with his daughters. His daughter, Bernadette, fondly remembers the time she lived with her dad in California. They spent time fishing, enjoyed trips to the ocean, and Robert taught her how to cook—lessons and memories she will carry with her throughout her life.
His daughter, Annette, treasures the memories they made together camping, riding jet skis and three-wheelers, and learning from her dad how to work on the house and cars. Robert had a gift for teaching through doing, and the skills and knowledge he passed down to his daughters became part of the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
Robert was also a man of faith. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Knights of Columbus, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life. He was also a member of Knights on Bikes.
When Robert wasn't working or spending time with family and friends, he loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, kayaking, fishing, boating, and archery. He found happiness in being outside, exploring, enjoying the water, and sharing these activities with the people he loved.
Those who knew Robert will surely remember his sense of humor and the sayings that made him uniquely Robert. One of his favorite catchphrases was, “You can't get right; you lose your head if it wasn't screwed on.” It was the kind of saying that could bring a smile and remind everyone of his personality and the way he saw the world.
Robert lived a life filled with hard work, adventure, friendship, faith, and family. He taught those around him not only how to fix things and work with their hands, but also how to make memories, enjoy the outdoors, and appreciate the people who make life special.
