Susan was raised in various towns in West Texas and graduated from Kermit High School in 1968. She later earned a degree in Fabrics and Textiles from the University of North Texas, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of beauty and design.
She married Robert Marion Dewoody August 3, 1996, and they made their home in Odessa, Texas. She worked as a gifted interior designer and had a talent to make her surroundings beautiful. Susan cared deeply about the people she loved and never missed an opportunity to let them know.
Susan was an avid animal lover and cared for even the tiniest of creatures God placed in her path. Her compassion for animals knew no bounds as demonstrated by the great lengths she would go to for them, and she often inspired others to do the same. Some of her beloved pets included Dottie Spottie, Julio, Buddy, Chewie, and Annie, among many others throughout her life.
She loved spending time in her garden and greenhouse where she frequently showed off her two green thumbs. Her generous spirit was evident as she developed a strong interest in philanthropy in her later years in life by supporting causes she had a passion for. She loved the mountains of New Mexico and frequently spoke of spending time there with her family.
Susan's resilience, determination, and spunky nature were evident throughout her courageous battle with cancer. She faced each challenge with strength, grace, and an unwavering love for those around her.
