Travis Grant Zeigenbein, 28, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 13, 2016 at 6:14pm in San Angelo, TX. He was born on May 14, 1988 in Odessa, TX, the son of Chryl Vestal and Robert Zeigenbein. He was a member of First Odessa Baptist Church and attended Permian High School. He was a very active and fun loving child who always wanted to be “just like Bubba”. He was in Cub Scouts, Troop 775 and received his ‘Arrow of Light’ award before moving on to Boy Scouts, Troop 34. As an adult, he loved being with his family and always had his own unique way of seeing the world. One of his many joys was playing with his niece and nephew, Branden and McKinley. Travis also enjoyed camping and fishing, some of his favorite trips were to Missouri where he and his dad would spend hours fishing at Grandpa’s pond. Another favorite past time was the many hours he and Kayla spent working jigsaw puzzles, however, he worked the puzzles from the inside out rather than the conventional way of the outside in. Travis was a guard and protector. We as his family know he would be proud of us by making the decision to donate all of his functional organs. In doing this he directly impacted four lives that will be forever changed. Recipients for his heart, liver and both kidneys were identified and as they were harvested from his body each organ left on a life flight that ultimately gave their awaiting host the gift of prolonged life. Travis’s pancreas was donated to research that will indirectly impact numerous individuals suffering from diabetes.
Travis is survived by his mother and step-father, Fred and Chryl Vestal of Odessa, TX, father and step-mother, Robert and Kayla Zeigenbein of Odessa, TX, brother, Dustin Zeigenbein and his wife, Meagan Zeigenbein of Tomball, TX, step-brother and wife, Freddy and Jackie Vestal, niece and nephew McKinley and Grayson Vestal all of Odessa, TX, step-sister and husband, Bill and Amanda Frazier, nephew Brayden Frazier all of Odessa, TX, Grandparents, JD and Kay Butler of Odessa, TX, Lona Zeigenbein of Devils Elbow, MO, and Clarence and Brenda Zeigenbein of Waynesville, MO. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa, TX. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Odessa, TX on Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the company of the family.
