

Verena Nevans died peacefully Wednesday Morning at her residence at Sherwood Place in Odessa. Verena was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devoted wife. Her strength, courage, and attitude were an inspiration to many as she battled numerous set-backs.
Verena was born and raised in El Dorado Arkansas and moved to Fort Stockton, Texas as a teenager, where she began waitressing at a local café. She soon met a customer, Jack Nevans, who eventually convinced her to go on a date. Two weeks after their first date, they were married. Jack and Verena had two children, twins, Terry and Jerry and remained happily married for 63 years.
Verena was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her sisters, Aileen Oliver and Kathryne Kemp, and her brother George Finch.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry and her husband Bob Sayles of Odessa, Her son, Jerry and his wife Shelli of Midland, Her daughter-in-law, Sharon Nevans of Rockwall; Grandchildren, Casey Sayles, Brian Nevans, Brad Nevans, Cody Sayles, and Blaine Nevans; Great Grandchildren, Gage Sayles, Jack Nevans, Case Nevans, Braxton Nevans, Cole Gibson, Callie Nevans and Samuel Nevans.
The family will entertain friends at Frank W Wilson Funeral Directors on Friday, March 20th from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 21st at 10 am with Pastor Bill Hillyer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
