

Agnes Bernice Tate, 93, was called to her heavenly home on November 19, 2016. Agnes was born on June 3, 1923 in Beauchamp, AR to Daniel Aden and Eula Dovie Adams. On December 27, 1941, Agnes married the love of her life, Paul Tate. Together, they had five children. Agnes worked as a cashier in the Spencer area at several grocery stores until retirement at the age of 69 and was loved by her employers and patrons. Agnes was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah. She was awarded the “Oldest Person With Membership” in the First Baptist Church of Jones on the 75th anniversary of the church in August of 1999. She attended church faithfully and devoted her time to caring for the flower beds, cooking dinners and helping teach children there. Agnes loved her modest home in Jones and her passion was mowing and caring for her beautiful flowers. She continued this passion up until her late 80’s. Following retirement, she also loved cooking one day each week for her family and anyone else who happened to drop in for her wonderful meals. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Tate; children, Paul Tate, Jr. and Loretta Scott; grandchildren, Sheli Sapp, Steffani Tate, and Kathy Winn; and siblings, Dub Adams, J.C. Adams, Troy Adams, and Imogene Moore. She is survived by one sister, Nina Elliott, with whom she shared a room at the time of her death. She is survived by her children, Paulette Kotch and husband Billy, Leland Tate and wife Cathy, and Carmalieta Wells and husband Dan; grandchildren, Tabra Warren, Leland Tate, Jr. and wife Tish, Kevin Tate and wife Donnell, Jon Tate, Malia and wife Amy, Shannon Russell and husband Rick, Darrin Scott and wife Gale, Jason Scott and wife Julie, Leah Ahart and husband Lance, Shandra Tate-Oliver and husband Gary, Callen Stephens and wife Stacey and Lauren Harless and husband Steven. 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends who will miss her dearly. The family wishes to thank Wolfe Living Center at Summit Ridge, Valir Hospice and each and every one of the devoted and loving care-givers and support staff who went above and beyond their job descriptions. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Jones with interment to follow at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
