

Andy-“Sonny” to his family-was born in Cobb, OK, September 19, 1935. His family moved to Spur, TX, when he was 6 years old. He attended school there and even rode his horse to school a few times.
In May of 1952, his family moved to Bokchito, OK (a suburb of Durant) when he was 16. A budding romance sprang up with Dorothy Faye Proffer. After graduation, he and two friends, Ed Armor and Doyle Robinson, moved to Dallas, TX, and shared a room while he worked at Sears. He drove back every weekend to spend with his beloved. They were married December 26, 1955, and the next day moved to Leadville, CO, to be a welder for a molybdenum mine. They moved up the mountain to Climax and had to come down to “stork level” at Salida for Randy to be born.
Two years later, he moved his family to Ft. Worth, TX, and began work at a parts dealership, and then took a job at Russell Department Store. While in Ft. Worth, Kelly was born.
In late 1961, they moved to Durant, OK, for 3 years and went to Calvary Baptist Church the first time.
In 1964, they moved to Denton, TX, and was Parts Manager at Steakley Chevrolet.
In 1970, they moved to Athens, GA, where he helped open a Gibson’s store.
After 3 years, they moved back to Durant where he worked at Steele Chevrolet while Dorothy and her sister, Barbara, had a ladies’ clothing store.
Andy worked for Steele Chevrolet and then for Estep Chevrolet/Buick in Atoka for several years. He worked 12 years for Bryan County in the Assessor’s Office and finally retired at 76. He and Dorothy sold the house and moved to OKC where they built onto the back of Kelly and Robin’s house.
5 ½ years later, at the age of 81, Andy went to be with Jesus on January 21, 2017.
He is survived by:
• his wife Dorothy,
• Sisters Margaret Marchbanks and Syble Thomason, sister-in-law Barbara Mize and her husband, David,
• Sons Randy and his wife, Kathy, and Kelly and his wife, Robin,
• Grandchildren Hillary Anderson, Hayley Sanders and her husband, TJ, Tyler Freeman and his wife Stacie, and Lauren Stoup and her husband Karig,
• Great Grandchildren Emma, Jake, Norah Rose, Graeson, Levi, and one on the way,
• And a great host of friends and loved ones.
