Alsie Gentry “Poppie” Hyden, age 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 9, 2025, at his residence at Legend at Council in Oklahoma City. He was born September 8, 1932, to Alma and Alsie Hyden of Berryhill, Oklahoma.
Alsie married Frances Yvonne Bogle of Langley, Oklahoma, on February 1, 1958. After serving in the Army and retiring with the rank of Second Lieutenant, Alsie pursued his life’s passion as head golf professional at Lake Hefner Golf Course from 1966 to 2023, dedicating 57 years to learning and teaching the game of golf. Alsie and Yvonne worked together at Lake Hefner Golf Course for 29 wonderful years before her passing in 1996.
Alsie is survived by his children, Renee Lamb and Mark Hyden; grandchildren David Lamb and wife Kynedie, Kylie Flanagan and husband Michael; and great-granddaughter Eve Edwards.
Visitation will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, located at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116, on December 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service is scheduled at the Church of the Servant, 14343 N MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK, 73142, on December 18, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm.
The committal service will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK, 73118, immediately following the funeral service.
