Anita Ferne Nethercutt, 75, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away in her home on September 3rd, 2022. Born March 30th, 1947 to W.H. "Roy" Billings and Gertrude (Osborn) Billings. She was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma, living 44 of those years at her beloved home in Choctaw.
Anita spent the majority of her working years at Rose State College as the Secretary III for the Social Sciences Division. She loved everything about that job, but nothing so much as the people she worked with; many of whom were dear friends throughout the rest of her life. Upon retirement Anita started her own business, Red Bud Tours. She gained immense satisfaction taking men and woman all over the country to quilt shows and made many wonderful friends.
Anita, an avid quilter, was a member of the Choctaw Cut Ups quilting group. It brought her such joy to make friends with men and woman who shared her passion. She loved to travel, spend time with her family, go to craft fairs, and watch the Oklahoma State Cowboy's football team give it their all every fall.
Anita was full of life. She would see something; from a cake to a quilt to a travel business and think "I can do that" and then she did. She had the best smile, made the best fried okra, and gave the best hugs. She never met a dog she didn't love and rescued them from every situation at every opportunity. She was courageous and determined, never afraid to take risks. When others said "why" she said "why not". She lived her life fully and with purpose.
Anita was preceded in death by her mother and father; her companion Lannie Nethercutt; brothers, Bill Billings and Tom Billings; sister, Lila Johnson; and step-daughter, Valerie Nethercutt. She is survived by her step-daughter, Tresa Greg and her children Darrell McCarty, Cory McCarty and wife Ashley, and La Tresha Finley, Daveeda Palmer and her husband Darrell, and their children Trey, Brianna, and Lyndsee; Valerie's children Tasha, Justin, and Nicholas; as well as 21 great-grandchildren, 8 nieces and nephews, and their families.
Anita's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., September 24th, 2022 at the Bill Eisenhour NE Funeral Home Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. Anita will be laid to rest at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73141.
