Anita was born to Virginia and John Singletary on October 5, 1943 in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Northwest Classen High School and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. While attending OU, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, where she made lifelong friendships. After college, Anita left Oklahoma to work as a stockbroker in New York City. She then returned to Oklahoma City, where she taught elementary school for several years.
Anita and her husband, Phil, were married in Oklahoma City on June 14, 1973. She was an avid photographer of sunsets and was a firm believer that shopping was a form of art. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Lotus Club, the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, the La Jolla Country Club and served on the board of directors for the Children’s Health Foundation. She was also a member of the Acorn Book Club, which ensures schools and children have unlimited access to free, quality books, as well as a long-time member of Junior Hospitality, a women’s organization dedicated to making Central Oklahoma a better place to live and work.
Several years ago, Anita and Phil relocated to La Jolla to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Anita will be remembered for her fierce devotion to her family and her close friends. She is survived by innumerable family and friends including Phil, her husband of 49 years, as well as their two children, Paige Kratz and her husband, Bill, and Cooper Patterson and his wife, Krissy, all of La Jolla. She is also survived by her brother, Jay Singletary and his wife, Beverly of Nogal, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Jarrod, her parents, John and Virginia Singletary and her niece, Julie Michelle Singletary.
“Dede” was adored by her four grandchildren, including Madeleine, Lillian and Charles Kratz, and James Patterson, all of La Jolla.

The service will be held on Thursday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City.
