Argus left the farm when he was 15 years old and joined the navy. After basic training he was sent to Guam where he was shot in the top of his head. The military found out he was under age, but by the time they sent him home he was old enough to join the Marines. He was sent to Korea where he was shot 10 times loosing his left eye. He received several medals including 7 purple hearts. After retiring from the military he married Jean Garrison, and gained a daughter Mary. Argus and Jean had two sons, Argus Jr., and Tommy, all of which survive him. He is also survived by his brother Leroy and sister Delores. Argus was a barber, however he did not enjoy that, and later became a mechanic. He was a member of the Military Order of Purple Hearts, The Chosen Few, American Legion, and DAV. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.
