

Barbara June Kersey, 88, went to be with her Lord on March 10, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on July 11, 1933 in Enid, Oklahoma to Charles and Blanche Wheeler Kersey. She was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1951. Barbara graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor's degree in English and received her Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
Her career continued as Librarian with the OU Health Science Library. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering with the Women's Auxiliary of Deaconess Hospital as a "Pink Lady". Later she moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Village in Yukon, Ok. There she made many friends and enjoyed numerous trips with the Cove. She was a long time member of the Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church. Barbara had a great passion for reading and was a master of jigsaw puzzles. One interesting fact about Barbara is her grandfather, Frank M. Wheeler, had the discovery oil well that started the Drumright Oil Field in 1912.
Barbara is survived by cousins Patti Rae Brewer of Wichita, KS and Louise Hickman of Yukon,OK, and many more cousins and friends.
Those wishing to pay their respects may come by the funeral home on Friday, from 4 pm to 8 pm. A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 19 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
