

Barbara Ruth Baker was born in Woodward, Oklahoma, March 4, 1927, to Charles Martin and Isola Marie Baker. She grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. Barbara graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. She then moved to Temple, Texas and worked as a tissue lab technician at Scott and White Hospital where she met James (Jimmy) Pearson on a blind date. They were married in Woodward, Oklahoma January 20, 1952. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, her parents, her brothers, Charles, Harold, and Pat Baker, and her sisters Billye Francis Wheeler, and Christine Johnson. Barbara is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Barbara loved being called "Great Barbara" as the great nieces were born. Barbara's passions in life were her family, God, current events, and politics. She loved to read the newspaper and watch OU football and basketball. Barbara will be remembered for her quick wit and lively sense of humor and vibrant red hair. To quote one of the nieces, "Barbara was the "Lucille Ball" of the Baker family.” She will be missed by all.
