Benny, as he was known to his family and friends, was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a practicing pharmacist in Oklahoma City for many years. Benny held a degree in pharmacology from the University of Oklahoma, School of Pharmacy and was a proud OU alumnus who loved attending OU football games. His wit, humor, and endless knowledge of everything from ballet and art to boxing and formula one racing will forever be remembered.
Benny was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin F. Powell II, his mother, Jewell Powell, and Lauren Lang, whom he considered a daughter.
He is survived by his children Joe Powell, Whitney Powell-Fisher and her husband Chad, Alex Powell, his grandchildren Eloise and Blythe Fisher, his former wife Carol Opper Powell, and his companion in his later years of life, Laurii Barnes.
He is also survived by his sister, Patti Stewart and her husband, Joe Stewart; and his brothers Jim Powell and his wife, Sheree; and Dan Powell and his wife, Suzanne.
