

Bennie L Holston died peacefully in her sleep on May 6, 2017. Bennie was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James W Holston and is survived by their three children, Elaine Schmidt, Deborah (Van) Selden and James Lloyd (Janet) Holston. Bennie was an adoring grandmother to her six grandchildren; James Kirkpatrick Selden, Christopher Selden, Lance (Stephanie) Schmidt, Rachel (Kevin) Cline, Sarah (Dillon) Taylor, and James Ethan (Taylor) Holston; and five great grandchildren; Solomon, Theo and Stella Schmidt and Evelyn and Jonah Cline. Adelyn Taylor will be born in June. Bennie's family was the source of her greatest joy. Bennie was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1923 and lived there until she and James moved their family to Oklahoma in 1962. James was a Methodist minister and Bennie was an educator. She taught in Moore, Oklahoma for 18 years, retiring in 1985. Bennie and James moved to Epworth Villa in 1992 where Bennie continued to live happily following James' death in 1995. Bennie was blessed with many friends, nieces and nephews who truly enriched her life. They owned a huge place in her heart. Bennie's was a happy and generous soul. Her love of life was evident in her every deed; her compassion and generosity endless. She will be missed by all who loved her and who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life's journey. A celebration of Bennie's life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Epworth Villa.
