Benny de la Cruz

Benny dela Cruz, 78, of Spencer, Oklahoma passed away January 27, 2015. He was born May 6, 1936 in Manila, Philippines to Amado and Leonardo dela Cruz. As a young man, Benny enlisted in the Marine Corp and was very proud of his service. He was the oldest of 6 children and the first to leave home. Benny’s younger sisters loved his surprise visits. He would show up out of the blue with a smile and no warning to visit the family. Benny would always remember his sisters at Christmas time with an envelope in the mail with money inside for them. For their high school graduation, each sister received a new set of luggage from him to use as they went away to college and began the next chapter of their lives. Benny enjoyed spending time with his mentor, cutting down trees, often scaring the girls with his daring. He enjoyed fixing things and working with his hands. Benny always knew what he wanted to do and was determined to do. He leaves behind to cherish his memory 4 sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother. A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Friday, January 30, 2015 at Arlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
