Bernice Marie Harrison, 92, a lifelong resident of Jones, OK passed away on October 25, 2016 at 2:27 p.m. She was born on April 14, 1924 in Jones, Oklahoma to John Edward "Ed" and Erma Sabina (Decker) Harrison on the farm at Jones.
Bernice was born to a family of ten children, Kenneth, Yleta, a baby (not yet named), Ruth and Ruby (twins), Bernice, Nellie "Jeanie", Billy, Mertelene and Lonnie Lee. Her father, Ed built the house she lived comfortably in until she passed on to our Savior in Heaven. She is survived by two sisters, Jeanie Williams and Mertelene Zawisza and husband, Joe; and many nieces and nephews. Bernice suffered from infantile paralysis at age 9 months. While a life-long affliction, she learned to live a long and happy life regardless of the disease. She attended school in Jones through the 9th grade. Like many of that time, she stopped school and began working. Macklanberg Duncan Co would be her working home. She started on 11/4/1947 at 58 cents per hour, and retired after 41 years in 1988.
After retirement, four of the sisters decided to travel around the country each year. This was an event that was looked upon with great anticipation and planning, she always loved those trips.
Bernice was a beloved aunt to all the nieces and nephews and a mother to two, Kenny and Tony Baiseri. Kenny has been living with and taking care of her in her last year, and during her passing. The family is greatly appreciative of the love and care provided by Kenny. The family would like to say thank you to Angelic Hospice of Shawnee.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Bill EIsenhour Northeast Chapel. Interment will follow in the Jones IOOF Cemetery, Jones, Oklahoma.
