On May 6, 2026, Betty Jean Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family and friends. Born on September 20, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, she lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, laughter, and an unwavering appreciation for life's simple joys.
In 1958, she moved from Chicago to Oklahoma City, where she built a life filled with meaningful relationships and lasting memories. She earned her bachelor’s degree from SNU and went on to have a successful career as a petroleum landman, earning her pilots license and establishing herself as a respected member of her field.
On March 9, 1968, she married the love of her life, William G. Brown III. Together they shared a marriage built on love, partnership, and family. William survives her and cherishes the many years they spent together.
Family was the center of her world. In addition to her husband surviving her, she is survived by her sons, Bryan Brown and wife Cathy of Yukon, Oklahoma, and David Brown and wife Kim of Plano, Texas. She was a proud grandmother to Preston Brown, Brooke Brown, and Ella Brown. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Baikie and wife Kathy, as well as one niece and one nephew and of course, sweet Buddy.
She loved spending time with her family above all else. Her favorite music included Dean Martin and The Beatles, and her favorite color was yellow. Her idea of a perfect day was simply having fun with the people she loved. She was known for her dry humor, quick wit, and playful sarcasm, which brought smiles and laughter to those around her.
The lessons she imparted were simple yet profound: work hard, keep moving, and have fun. These values guided her life and continue to inspire those who knew her.
In her own words, she leaves this message for her family and friends:
"I love you all very much and only hope there are enough memories to keep me alive in your thoughts.
Please enjoy the remainder of your lives to the fullest. My main wish for you all is to be happy. Go and do just that.
Love you very much!"
Her family will remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, treasured sister, loyal friend, and a woman who lived with determination, humor, and a generous heart. Her legacy lives on in the countless memories she created and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
