October 22, 1941May 15, 2020

Butch was born on Oct 22, 1941 in Seminole, OK, the daughter of Ted Clayton Bruce and Edith Bernice Hale Bruce.

Butch married the love of her life and best friend, Fredrick Martin Phillips on August 15, 1964 in Seminole, Okla. They were married for 55+ years and following Fred's military service, resided in Moore, OK for their entire married life.

Butch was preceded in death by her parents and sister Noxie Maxine Calhoun, Sherman, TX. She is survived by her husband Fred; three sisters, Connie Marie Gaines and husband Bob of Henryetta, OK, Teddie Cae Knizek and husband Mike of Seminole, OK, Tessie Faye Robertson of Seminole, OK; two brothers, Ted Clayton Bruce Jr. and wife Kay of Shawnee, OK and Barry Alan Bruce and wife Jennifer of Del City, OK. She is also survived by her niece Vickie Louise Maloney and husband David of Keller, TX; numerous other nieces, nephews, family, long-time neighbors, and friends.

Butch worked several jobs throughout her lifetime; most notably, the Haggar Manufacturing Plant in Oklahoma City, Liberty Bank, and Harry Mortgage Company.

Butch enjoyed bowling, playing slots, and reading every Harlequin Romance novel ever published; but mostly she enjoyed doing absolutely anything that Fred wanted to do. Together they attended OU football games, Moore Lions' football games, drag races, motocross races, traveling, and watching their extensive collection of DVDs; they were inseparable.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the following caregivers, Linda Perez; Visiting Angels: Deb Purcell, Carol Rector, and Star Hollingshead; the staff of Brookhaven Extensive Care Facility in Norman, OK; and Frontier Hospice for all the compassionate care provided for Butch.

Growing up when I was younger Aunt Butch was so kind, & caring. My biggest regret is not seeing her before she passed on. So thankful I have found some family.
I remember her love for the animals as if they were her children since she couldn't have any. Love you Aunt Butch, forever in my heart!

We moved next door to Butch in 1986. I spent many a summer night playing in their front yard. We TPed their yard during Moore War. Celebrated with Christmas parties and summer BBQs.
Butch was such a fun and friendly lady and was very special to our family. She will be greatly missed. Love and prayers for her family.
Love,
Aaron, Valoree, Hayden and Merrielle Biggs
