Betty graduated from Cordell High School in 1958. Following graduation, she married Forney Shipp, and together they welcomed two children, Pattie and Brian.
A devoted homemaker and wonderful cook, Betty especially enjoyed preparing meals for her family during the holidays. She had a gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.
In 1972, Betty married Glen Smith, and they later moved to Oklahoma City, where she enjoyed hosting bridge groups in her home. Betty had a positive outlook on life and loved a good story. She delighted in catching up with family and friends, hearing the latest news, and sharing plenty of laughter along the way. There was always another story to tell and another reason to smile.
Affectionately known as "Granny" to her grandchildren, Cody, Holly, and Hope, Betty was a generous and loving grandmother who played an important role in their lives. She took great pride in her family and was instrumental in providing opportunities that helped shape her grandchildren's futures.
Betty later lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, before moving to Texas, where she received compassionate care from the dedicated staff at Legacy Oaks of Midlothian and Wings Over Texas Hospice.
Betty will be remembered for her positive spirit, generous heart, wonderful sense of humor, and the joy she found in simply connecting with those she loved. Her familiar invitation, "Tell me something," will forever bring a smile to the faces of her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her son, Brian Shipp and wife Jane of Waxahachie, Texas; her grandchildren, Cody Shipp, Hope McAdams and husband Zach, and Holly Woolbright and husband Mason; and her great-grandson, Ellis.
Her love, laughter, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
