

Betty Lovejoy Weber, age 88, died on July 6, 2012. Services are in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK on July 10, 2012 at 2pm with Rev. Rodney Minor, Associate Pastor of Church of Christ, Elk City, OK officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City.
Betty was born in Lone Wolf, OK on October 2, 1923 to Glenn and Esther Young Lovejoy. Her parents later moved to Oklahoma City where she attended grade school, junior high and high school. She graduated from Classen High School and then completed her undergraduate work at Phillips University in Enid, OK. She continued her graduate studies at St. Louis University and the University of Chicago where she attained a Master’s degree in Social Service Administration. She later worked in Oklahoma City as a caseworker in child welfare.
She married her husband, Al Weber, on March 21, 1948, and they enjoyed 64 years of married life. She was a full time homemaker, devoting her life to her family, church and to helping friends. As she supported her husband in his career, she was blessed to live in many different places, including Australia, Canada, Malaysia, as well as the USA. Travel was one of her greatest joys, and she was able to visit many of the world’s most interesting attractions. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Glenn and Kirk.
Both she and her husband were lifelong members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Survivors include her husband; daughter, Gayle Weber of Broken Arrow; son, Wayne Weber of Houston, Texas; son, Mark Weber and wife, Ellen Liss and granddaughter, Sophie Weber, all of Boston, MA; sister, Carolyn Westerdahl and husband, Ray of Denville, NJ; brother, Ken Lovejoy and wife, Maya, of Oklahoma City; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family suggests that memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice.
