

Bill Thom passed away peacefully from congestive heart failure on Saturday, Oct. 13. He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Enid to Jack and Eula (Hartshorn) Thom. Bill graduated from Classen High School and Oklahoma City University and was a Certified Public Accountant. He was a partner in Thom-Dobson-Womack, Inc., previously Thom & Co., a CPA firm founded by his father.
Bill served in the Korean War and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force after serving in the Oklahoma Air National Guard Reserve for many years. For a short time, he played tuba for the Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra and the OCU orchestra. He married Barbara Kapp on Dec. 1, 1950. They loved to travel and visited many places around the world. They also enjoyed plays, concerts and spending time with family. Bill enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard and was also very fond of hippos. He liked jazz music and was an avid reader.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and his wife and by his special dog, Mr. Whiskers. He is survived by his daughter Teresa and her partner Rick Schultz; his son Michael and his wife Sue; grandchildren Martin and his wife Kenna; Kara and her husband Dusty McBride; Jeff and Alyssa; and special friend Pam Parrish. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 N.W. 25, followed by a family-only interment at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fundación Manos Juntas (Joined Hands Foundation), 1330 N. Classen, Suite 105, Okla. City, OK, 73106, a free clinic and pharmacy for those in need.
