

Billy Carroll Hegi Sr. “Pops” “Papaw”, of Jones, OK passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the age of 92. After several months of declining health, Bill died peacefully with his beloved wife Mary and their family by his side.
Bill was born in Conway, Arkansas on February 3, 1930, to father William Hegi and mother Gertrude Oliver. He began school in Conway, Arkansas before the family moved to Wichita, Kansas where he graduated high school. After high school, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer during the Korean War. After the Navy he went to work for a Petroleum Marketer Equipment Company for a period of over 30 years. The next ten years he worked at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, followed by another ten years at Academy Sports and Outdoors.
Bill’s hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, riding horses, camping, craft making,and attending family sporting events. He was a jack of all trades who could always be seen wearing his overalls and sporting that contagious smile.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his second wife Jo Ann Hegi; his three sons, Daniel and Chris Hegi, and Tony Jones; and grandson David Wayne Nelson II. He is survived by his wife of thirty nine years, Mary Hegi; ex-wife, Aletha Russell of Kansas; children, Pam Adams of Kansas, Billy Carrol Hegi Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Ohio, Randy Hegi and wife Shannon of Oklahoma, Timothy Hegi, Rene’ Redden and husband Doug of Oklahoma, Rickie Kahn and wife Kim of Arkansas, Lisa Jones, David Nelson and wife Brenda, Justin Nelson and wife Tina; thirty-four grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Bill is planned for Thursday, April 14, 2022, from 2 pm to 6 pm, and Friday April 15, from 4 pm to 8 pm. The visitation will be at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home on 8805 NE 23rd St. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The funeral will be held at 2 pm at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home. All are invited to attend.
