Billy Roe Puckett, 85, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK. Bill was born on December 9, 1935 in Syracuse, KS, to Jess and Kathryn Puckett.
While attending Bob Jones University, Bill met Sandra, his future wife. They were married in 1956 and spent over 60 beautiful years together. Bill and Sandra’s family grew with addition of their children, Chris, Tim, Philip and Amy.
After Bill and Sandra were married, they moved to Nassau, Bahamas for ten years, where Bill worked for his family. Then in the early 70s, they moved to Brazil where he worked for another three years. It was there, he fell in love with a little girl named Jocileia. One of Bill’s proudest moments is when they adopted Amy (Jocileia) into the family. When they moved back to the states, Bill continued to provide for his family and found a career as an insurance agent/financial advisor. And when it was time to relax, he would occasionally go fishing.
In May of 2017, Bill lost the love of his life. Though Bill was always social, with Sandra’s passing he found himself gathering every Friday morning at McDonald’s with his friends from Metropolitan for a men’s Bible study/Prayer support group. Bill was extremely involved with Metropolitan Bible Church’s missions ministry and also with Gideon’s International. He was a son, husband, father, brother and friend and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by father, Jess Allen Puckett; mother, Kathryn Rose (Browning) Puckett; wife, Sandra Jean (Malone) Puckett; and brother-in-law, Don Parrish.
Bill is survived by sons, Christopher Allen Puckett of Stillwater, OK, Timothy Andrew Puckett and wife, Leslie of Edmond, OK, Philip Browning Puckett and wife, Vonda of Edmond, OK; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Puckett of Round Rock, TX and sister, Laverna Parrish of Heston, KS. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews to honor his memory.
A memorial service in honor of Bill will take place on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2pm at Metropolitan Bible Church, 7201 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73132. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://www.gideons.org/donate.
