“Bob” passed away from this life on July 26, 2013, following a heart attack at the age of 84. He was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Chickasha, OK to John Archie & Gertrude Wood and later graduated from Central High School in OKC in 1946. From there, he joined the Army, becoming a Sgt. in the Army Corp of Engineers. He always enjoyed telling stories of his trips to different states and all the good times he had with his fellow army men. He was accepted into the West Point Academy, yet up to his last days, he admitted he regretted not accepting the offer. He met the love of his life and married Mary “Bebe” Colby on Nov, 25, 1949. Seven months later, during the Korean War, he was ordered to ship out on a train to Colorado Springs. Bebe followed him to stay close, and was also able to get a job with the Army Corp, assisting in the design of the ejection seats used in airplanes, as we know them today. After serving his country, Bob and Bebe made their home in OKC, and had their only child, a son, David in 1953. About that time, Bob and his dad Archie and brother Bud established a successful family business called Wood & Sons Paving. In 1968, Bob and Bebe bought a 500 acre farm in Luther, OK where they worked hard with their hog & cattle operation, and even a bait shop to go with all their stocked fishing ponds. From then on, Bob was always seen on the tractor or dozer, as he would get a thrill from pushing down any trees on the place that could be in his way of farming. After 30 years of marriage, his wife Bebe, the most loved mother and mother in law, suddenly passed away. With that said, we know that Bebe was pulling him home with his last breath. For many years, Bob enjoyed his “coffee shop” visits with the local area farmers, who were truly his great friends. You could often see him early in the morning telling stories with the guys at Lakestop in Arcadia. From there, he would spend his time with the crew of Wood & Sons Paving, another group that he truly considered family. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Luther. He is survived by his present wife, MaryAnn, his only son, David and his wife, Janet of Luther, OK, also a cherished granddaughter, Debra Dayle Deskin and her husband, David “Booger” Deskin of Edmond, OK, MaryAnn’s daughter, Denise Wyatt and her two children who highly respected Bob, along with an extended family and many friends and the respect of even more business acquaintances over the entire state of OK. Bob is also survived by one sister, MaryJon Walker of Jones, OK and one sister-in-law, Erlene Wood of Luther, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joy, and brother, Bud. Services will be Wed., July 31, 10 AM at the Luther H.S. auditorium, Luther, OK. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Park, OKC. Online condolences may be left at www.eisenhourfuneralhome.com
