Brian Curtis Potter, 42 of OKC passed from this life on March 19, 2020 and was greeted in heaven by the Lord and his Tata. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral Service and a private family service will be held in the near future. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24th from 10am to 8pm at Advantage Funeral Service at 7720 S. Penn in S. OKC.
Brian was born on February 17, 1978 in Grand Prairie, TX to Walter Curtis Potter and Marilyn Gail (Goolsby) Potter. He was raised in OKC and attend Capitol Hill High School before transferring to Western Heights High School where he graduated with the Class of 1996. Following his graduation, Brian began working for the McDonalds at SW 59th and Penn. He also spent time working for Goodwill Industries in downtown OKC.
Brian was an active member of the Special Olympics where he competed in track & field, softball throw, bocce ball, and bowling. He was extremely close with his Special Olympics Friends Group. He attended Wilmont Place Baptist Church in OKC for many years. Brian was a huge sports fan. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on the Blazers Hockey Team, the Dallas Cowboys, or his beloved OKC Thunder.
Brian was an outgoing and happy guy who loved spending time with his grandma, father, and other family members. He enjoyed playing his x-box and watching game shows. Brian loved people and people loved Brian. He made an unmistakable mark on the lives of so many people and he made more wonderful memories in his short 42 years than most people could make in 100 years. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Brian was preceded in death by his Tata (grandpa) Harold Dick Nichols; maternal grandparents: Grandma and Grandpa Goolsby; 4 uncles and 2 aunts; great grandparents George and Bonita Gammel, and great uncles George and Willie Gammel.
He is survived by his grandma Margaret Ann Nichols; parents Walter Curtis Potter and Marilyn Gumpert and husband David; 2 sisters: Amanda Gail Borroum and husband Matthew and Megan Nicole Potter; step-siblings: Mona Wood, Michael Johnson, and Lisa Johnson; step-mother Pat Long; Aunts and Uncles: Robert and Bonita Gammel, Ron and Jamie Gammel, Ada Cox, Diane Brown, Nancy Jamison, David Goolsby, Ronnie Goolsby, and Jack and Teresa Potter; Nieces and nephews: Kristal Potter, Madison Potter, Riley Potter, Bailey Potter, Riley Potter; step-nieces and nephews: TJ Wise, Holly Wood, and Anthony Johnson; as well as special cousins: Kimberly Potter, Bradley Potter, Jasmine Haney, Jacob Barker, and Kagen Barker. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other beloved family members.
