

Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bruce Bryant Thompson, 88, passed away on December 8, 2010. Bruce is survived by his son James B. Thompson; daughter, Bebe Thompson; three grandchildren, Mary Hutchins, James F. Thompson, and Jody Spain; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Thompson; son-in-law, Gary Roberts; daughter-in-law, Melody Thompson Aldrich; and five great grandchildren, Nick, Marley, Chevy, Dakota and Colton. His wife of 56 years, Mary Isabelle “Issy” Thomson and son, John Timothy Thompson, preceded him in death. His family meant everything to him and he always gave them his best.
Bruce was born November 10, 1922 in Enola, Arkansas. From an early age he traveled and sang with his family’s gospel group. He had a beautiful voice and sang on the radio in Little Rock, and with several bands in the 1930’s and 40’s.
During World War II he served as an infantry sergeant with the United States Army, European Theater, earning the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Bronze Star.
Bruce moved to Oklahoma City with his wife and children in 1956. He retired from the Oklahoma State Insurance Fund in 1984. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel with his wife as they enjoyed their retirement. Study of the Bible was his interest and comfort throughout his life and as his time came to a close.
Memorial services will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City (NW Expressway and County Line Road) at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010.
