Carol Grace Wood

Carol Grace (Copeland) Wood, 61 year-old resident of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away July 22, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born February 11, 1952 in Oklahoma City, she was the daughter of Louis and Delce Courtright Copeland. Carol had an adventurous spirit. She loved snorkeling; a fast “Zip Line”; and teaching children. Carol taught kindergarten in Corinth, TX for over 20 years. She was a graduate of John Marshall High School in 1970 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Central State University in 1974. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and by 1 brother, Jimmy Copeland. Survivors include her husband Charles Wood of the home; 1 son, Christopher S. Wood of Dallas, TX; 1 daughter, Chelsea Wood La Fon of Aubrey, TX; a grandson who was her pride and joy, Gunner Wylie La Fon of Aubrey, TX; 1 brother, Bobby Copeland of Midwest City, OK; 1 sister, Peggy Whitfield of Plain Dealing, LA; and two beloved nieces, Jamie and Lorrie. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013 at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, OK. The Wood family would like to thank ALL of the doctors and nurses at Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice for all that they have done over the past year.
