Catherine Katie Rose Mays Lyons

Catherine “Katie” Rose Lyons, 84, flew to her Heavenly home on April 13, 2010. Katie was born June 21, 1925 in New York City, New York to Walter and Winifred Patricia (McCabe) Mays. On April 11, 1948, Katie married the love of her life, William “Bill” Lyons. Together they shared 62 wonderful years together. Katie enjoyed gardening, crafts, knitting, reading at Church, and spending time with her family. She and Bill would take the foods that they grew from their garden and donate the food items to the Jesus House and Meals on Wheels.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Betty Smith, Charles and Patrick Lyons; and sister-in-law Mary. Survivors include her husband Bill; children, William “Bill” Lyons and wife Sue, Mike Lyons, Lloyd Lyons and wife Cathy, Russell Lyons and wife Terri, Gerard “Jerry” Lyons, Peter Lyons, Loretta “Missy” Kerkhoff, Margaret Rousher and husband Dave, Maureen Lyons, Catherine “Katie” Lyons; brothers, Walter Mays, Larry Mays and wife Marilyn; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Nicoma Park. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home.
