Charlene M. Welsch passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 88. She was born on January 31, 1938, in Miami, Arizona, to Charles Haynes Justis and Gertrude Olive Colvert. Charlene spent 27 years living in Chaparral, New Mexico, before making her home in Oklahoma. She found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her favorite music was old country and western, especially the songs of Hank Williams. The color blue was her favorite, and whenever you see it, may it serve as a reminder of her warm spirit. A perfect day for Charlene was one filled with sunshine, time spent working in the yard, and the companionship of her dogs. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren, family, and friends, who never failed to make her smile. Those who knew Charlene often said she "never knew a stranger." Her kindness, welcoming nature, and generous heart touched everyone she met. She was also known for her creativity and talent in arts and crafts, especially the beautiful hand-crocheted blankets she lovingly made for others.
Charlene had a lifelong love of dogs. Over the years, she raised Poodles and American Eskimo Dogs, and in her later years she cherished her little dog, Peaches, who brought her comfort and joy. She is survived by her daughters Sherri Lynn Mills (Charles) of Waco, Texas and Tracy Kay Alliman (Charles) of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A special thank you to her caregiver Dorris Williams. Charlene is preceded in death her parents Charles Haynes Justis and Gertrude Olive Colvert; daughter Carrie Lee Welsch; brother Charles Haynes Justis Jr.; sisters Donna Gail Rabideau and Lydna K Abernathy.
