

Charles L. Muse crossed from this life from a sudden illness to his heavenly one at his home in Edmond on Monday, February 14, 2011. Charles was 87 years of age He was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma living the last 47 years in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born August 17, 1923 in Altus, Oklahoma to Leslie and Viola Muse. Charles attended high school in Broxton, Oklahoma, while attending college in Altus, WWII began. He enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy stationed in the Philippine Islands. Upon returning from service he married Wanda Jean Goss on February 22, 1947. They moved to Oklahoma City from Apache, Oklahoma. Charles worked for American Finance Company where he rose to Supervisor for all Oklahoma offices. He then began his banking career with Exchange National Bank in Moore, Oklahoma. In 1964 he moved his family to Edmond, Oklahoma starting his homebuilding business with Cliff Shahan. He eventually began doing commercial real estate developments including subdivisions, shopping centers and office buildings until his retirement in 1995. Charles was an accomplished harmonica player and enjoyed playing for friends and family, and the occasional 'gig' with other musicians. He had sold songs to recording studios in Nashville. He had 2 books on banking and real estate published by Prentiss Hall. He was a Boy Scout, private pilot and Mason. He loved to travel and he and Wanda were able to travel all of the United States, Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Europe and the Middle East. He was a fan of OU football and loved Country & Western Music; and always had a new joke to tell. He was a Trustee of the Edmond Elks Lodge 2578 where he spent many enjoyable days and nights with friends enjoying the many activities sponsored by the Elks and its members. L.D. Maxwell was a great friend to Charles as were many other lodge members who appreciated his talents and humor. Charles was preceded in death by Wanda J. Muse his wife of 51years, his parents Leslie and Viola Muse, brothers, Bill Muse, Wayne Muse and his sister, Marquita Alligood. He is survived by his son, L.W. 'Buz' Muse and wife Lynnann Muse of Oklahoma City. Charles was honest, hardworking and a quick witted friend to all. Per his request the Memorial Service will be private.
