Charles "Chuck" Plummer Russell, 91, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2019. He was the husband of Eileen Sue (Childs) Russell for 59 years. Chuck was born July 19, 1927 in Newburyport, Massachusetts to Bernard and Dorothy (Merrill) Russell.

He was a military veteran serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps and the U. S. Air Force. He retired in 1970 after a life-time of service to his country. His interests and enjoyment included Country and Western and Big Band Music, John Wayne movies, and reading his World War II history books. Chuck and his late wife, Sue, were benefactors to the Infant Crisis Service in Oklahoma City, supplying caps and mittens so that the babies would be warm, and donating goods to their cupboards to help young mothers and their children. If he knew of someone in need and could help, he did so, without thought of personal recognition.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include sons, Derek Russell and wife Marie of Reno, NV, and Rory Russell and wife, Frances of Oklahoma City, OK; and daughter, Cindy Tucker and husband, Blake of Gainesville, GA. Chuck also leaves 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews to honor his memory. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Infant Crisis Services.

"There are not enough words in this world to express how much I will miss this amazing man. He taught me how to gamble, that the Duke is one of the greatest actors of all time, and to blast the music you love and sing it at the top of your lungs with the windows down. Family was so important to him, to say he loved us just doesn’t say it enough. EVERYONE knew who we were because he loved and was so proud of his family. Everyone in our community seemed to know who my grandfather was. I never remember him having a bad word to say about anyone or the latter, to say he could make a tree his friend is an understatement. He loved my grandmother with all his heart, and never once faltered in that after her passing. This set the example for all of us in what real love is. My grandfather was the walking existence of love and I will miss him and the light he brought to our lives so terribly much, but will always find comfort knowing he is finally resting in peace with mamaw."
