United States Air Force Retired, MSgt Charles Susan passed away May 15, 2018. He was born August 18, 1922 to Frank and Helen Susan in Grant Town, West Virginia. Charles was raised in Rivesville, West Virginia.
After graduating from Rivesville High School in 1941, he worked for Hi-Grit Pulp Stone Company in Morgantown, West Virginia for two summers. He entered the service on December 2, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army, Army Air Force, and U.S. Air Force. He retired on June 1, 1974 after 31 years and 6 months of military service. He served six tours of overseas duty, serving in England (2), France (1), Germany (3), Libya (1), and Japan (2), for a total of 15 years.
After retiring from the military, he was hired as an Inventory Management Specialist, working for Accurate Inventory and Calculating Service (AICS) in Longview, Texas. He was later hired as a GS12 Commissary Store Manager at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City. He retired the second time in 1983 after serving 40 years for the U.S. Government. He was an avid sports fan all of his life and supported many local sports activities during his travels. He was an elite member of All Sports Association, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma Quarter Donor Club, University of Oklahoma Women’s Basketball Fastbreak Club, and University of Oklahoma Women’s Softball Diamond Club. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, Air Force Retired Enlisted Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Michi of 53 years; sister, Darinka Rush; sister, Olga Volzniak; sister, Dorothy Pasqual; and brother in-law, Ken “Bud” Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Susan; sister, Margaret Jones; brother, William Steger; sister, Rose Moresco; and brothers in-law, Gino Moresco, Paul Rush, Walter Vozniak and Tony Pasqual.
A funeral service will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Northeast Chapel at 2:00P.M., on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
