

Charlotte June Tyra of Midwest City, Oklahoma, was born on March 21, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Arthur Earl Garrett and Pauline Garrett (Hearn). Charlotte lived a life centered around her faith, her family, and her love for others. Charlotte enjoyed listening to gospel music and loved going to church, singing, and ministering to those around her. Her favorite colors were blue, pink, and purple. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make others laugh, including herself. Charlotte had a gift for making people feel loved and welcomed. She taught those who loved her how to pray, how to cook, how to love, and how to always make others feel at home. She cherished spending time with her family and attending church. Charlotte often shared that God had given her songs and poems to recite, gifts that allowed her faith and love to touch the lives of others. Charlotte was especially proud to be an ordained preacher. She was a member of Next Level Worship Center and Love of God Tabernacle. On April 19, 1952, she married the love of her life, Richard Tyra, and together they built a family she was immensely proud of. Charlotte was blessed to raise six children and treasured the generations that followed.Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline Garrett; her husband, Richard Tyra; her sons, Richard E. Tyra and James Tyra; her brother, Pat Dale Garrett; her sister, Arlene Joyce Marsicano; her sons-in-law, Donald McCoy, Jerry Harkrider, and Jim Richardson; her brother-in-law, Jimmy J. Messer; her grandson J.D. Richardson; her great granddaughters Kyhlia Harkrider and Hope Tyra and great-great grandson Creed Harkrider. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy McCoy of Moore, Oklahoma; Malinda Harkrider of Newalla, Oklahoma; Francis Wiedenhall (Steve) of Florida; and Terrie Richardson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Tyra of Choctaw, Oklahoma; her sister, Judith A. Messer of Del City, Oklahoma; and her brother-in-law, Joseph J. Marsicano of Midwest City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, more than 60 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved fur baby, Bella. Charlotte's life was a beautiful reflection of her faith and her love for the people around her. She will be remembered for her laughter, her songs, her prayers, her cooking, and the way she welcomed everyone with an open heart. Her greatest legacy will be the love and faith she passed down through the many generations of her family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Visitation will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on August 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on August 18, 2026, at 11:00 am.
Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 3400 North Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK, US, on August 18, 2026.
