Chester Eugene Owens, 83 year-old resident of Harrah, Oklahoma, passed away on September 4, 2018 in McLoud, Oklahoma. Born January 5, 1935 in Roswell, New Mexico, he was the son of Chester Glen Owens and Ruby Evelyn (Curtis) Owens. Chester was a longtime employee at Tinker Air Force Base working as an electrician and ordering parts. Preceding him in death were his parents, Chester and Ruby Owens, and his brothers, Boyd and James Owens. Chester was an inveterate “tinkerer” and loved to fix things. Duct tape and baling wire were his favorite “fix-it” items. He enjoyed traveling and had been in 49 states, missing only Alaska, and watching NASCAR racing; Western movies; and OU Football. Survivors include daughters, Deanna and her husband Elwyn Custer of McLoud, OK; Dawn and her husband Kory Thompson of Harrah, OK; his longtime companion, Barbara Nelson of the home; daughters, Sheryl and her husband Dwain Johnson of Burleson, Texas; and Terry and her husband Mark McCool of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two sons, James and his wife Theresa Nelson of McLoud, Oklahoma; and Howard and his wife Lydia Nelson of Ochelata, Oklahoma; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Kay Reeves of Oklahoma City, OK; and Elaine and her husband Ronnie Smith of Newalla, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
