Chris Taylor went to be with our Lord on October 16, 2015. She was proceeded in death by her parents Elmo (Bo) Hewes and Lorrain Hewes of Oklahoma City. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years Rev. Dean Taylor of Oklahoma City, her brothers Hayden Hewes and his wife Bonnie of Oklahoma City and Jon Hewes and his wife Kathy of Edmond. She is also survived by two step sons and their wives, Kyle Taylor and his wife April of Piedmont and Kreston Taylor and wife Kara of Enid; three grandchildren, Carsyn Taylor and Camdyn Taylor of Piedmont and Ryker Taylor of Enid; and nephew Matthew Hewes of Edmond, all of whom she loved very much.
Chris was born in Ardmore, Ok and her family later moved to Oklahoma City, she graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended classes at the University of Central Oklahoma. She was a gifted artist and ran “Wood You” wood name company for many years until she developed back problems that kept her from being able to do the lifting that the business required. She became a super sign salesperson setting sales records with the first company with whom she was employed. She then went on to own and operate “Taylor Made Signs” for over ten years. Many of her customers became her friends. She also worked with and was very supportive of her husband in his business, “Taylor Accounting Systems.”
For the last three years she has been the PW (Preacher’s Wife) at Linwood United Methodist Church where she and her husband have been members for over 19 years. She was not sure she wanted to be a PW but she was a natural. She was a most kind and loving soul and the people of the church loved her and she loved them. When Dean decided to go into the ministry she embrace what he was doing and supported him whole heartedly.
Whether you knew her as Chris, Christopher (her real first name), Kit, Kitty, KitKatKris, or Kris you always knew she was genuine and real. She made many good friends on the internet and in person. She had the biggest heart and cared so much for everyone around her. You also learned very quickly that she loved animals. When she and Dean got married they combine two cat families and had 10 cats. Over the last 25 year she and Dean have had a total of 14 cats and two dogs. She was so kind hearted that she would put a spider outside rather than kill it.
The lives of those around her were always enhanced by knowing her. She will be remembered and missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at Linwood UMC on Saturday Oct. 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM
