Christie McKinley, age 59, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 after a 22-year battle with primary progressive multiple sclerosis. Christie was born December 25, 1958 in Sherman, Texas to Hubert and Emily Stilwell. Christie was the youngest of three daughters and one son, Janie Sparkman of Fort Worth, Texas, Nancy Baldrica of Surprise, Arizona, and EllEd Stilwell who preceded Christie in death.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Kyle McKinley, daughter, Maranda Pierce and son, Christopher McKinley.
She graduated from Durant High School in 1977 and attended Southeast Oklahoma State University in Durant, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Drafting. Christie was employed by Bogert Oil Company, followed by Louis Dreyfus Natural Gas, as a geological draftsman before having to take medical retirement due to her illness.
Christie's passion was dancing!!! She was a member of several dance groups that performed at several functions. One such dance group was the Rose Rock Cloggers, who performed at multiple functions, including the State Fair of Oklahoma. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching, cycling, hiking, and any other outdoor activity whereby she could enjoy nature.
A celebration of life for Christie will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM at The Harn Homestead, 1721 North Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Casual attire is requested. Blue jeans and short sleeves are OK.
