

Robert “Clark” Taylor passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his home on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022. Clark was born was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on January 16th, 1927. He was the oldest son of Ira and Vesta (Clark) Taylor. He had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated Ponca City High School in 1945, and enlisted in the military. Upon leaving the military, he attended The University of Oklahoma graduating with a Master’s degree in Geology. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. While attending OU, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane O’Connor. They were married on Easter Sunday, March 25th, 1951 at Grace Episcopal Church, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. After receiving his master’s degree, he was employed by Carter Oil Company in Jasper, Alabama. He later moved to Liberal, Kansas continuing his employment with Carter Oil Company, and later Humble Oil Company. In 1968, Clark moved his family to Norman, Oklahoma and was employed by Edwin L. Cox. In 1972, he began working as an independent Geologist. Clark formed r.c.Taylor Companies Inc. in 1980 with his son Mike Taylor. They worked together until 2010 when he retired to stay home and care for his loving wife Jane. He devoted the next 3 years to caring for her until her death in 2013. He was an excellent and well-respected geologist.
Clark was a devoted husband, “Dad”, and “Dad-Dad” to his sons and their wives, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Family was of utmost importance to him. He was an avid gardener and until recently worked daily in his backyard garden growing some of the most beautiful Peonies and Iris around. He loved his travels with Jane, particularly the travels they made to Switzerland, Germany, and Israel. He also enjoyed golf with his friends at Oak Tree Golf Club
Clark is survived by his brother Al (Betty) of Houston Texas, and sister Vesta Rose of Guadalajara, Mexico; 3 sons, Clark Taylor jr., Mike Taylor and wife Jamie, and Ward Taylor and wife Yana; 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Brian), Natalie, Graham, Olivia, Annalisa, Eddie, and Aiden; 3 Great grandchildren, Ellie, James, and Margot. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Taylor, sister Aleece Clapham, brothers Franklin, Zach, and Jimmy Taylor and grandson James Michael Taylor.
The family wishes to extend much gratitude to his loving caregivers Christy and Tony Martinez, Tamara Davis, Jean Martinez, Wanitha Dodge, and Tisha Barbour. You are all angels to us.
Funeral Services will be at All Souls’ Episcopal Church on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:30 am. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors.
