Clay Matthew Barber

Clay Matthew Barber, 64, was born to Van and Pat Barber on April 20th, 1961. Clay passed away at home in Edmond, Oklahoma on April 1, 2026. Clay was a true outdoorsman, developing a lifelong love for fishing and hunting at a young age, and took great pride in being an Eagle Scout. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and studied forestry and business administration. He later joined his family’s veterinary supply business, Barber & Lundberg, working alongside his father.

Clay had a natural gift for making people laugh. He loved telling jokes—many of which, over time, became the classic “dad jokes” that those closest to him will always remember. He was an avid sports fan and could often be found cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals rarely missing a game and following them faithfully through every season.

Clay is survived by his father, Van and was preceded in death by his mother, Pat. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Dallas Barber and wife, Macey, and Taylor Barber. He is also survived by his sister, Drew Gillum, and her husband, Rick Gillum; his nephews, Kyle Gillum and wife, Elizabeth, and Cole Gillum and wife, Rachel; and his niece, Kaela Hawari and husband, Kyle; and several great nieces and nephews who brought him great joy. Clay was a proud and loving grandfather to Blair, Georgia, and June Barber. He is also survived by many dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Clay’s life was marked by laughter, loyalty, and a love for the simple things—time outdoors, a good game, and being surrounded by those he loved. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and traditions he leaves behind.

A come and go celebration of life will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home from 2-4pm located at 6600 Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City, OK 73116 on Sunday April 12th, 2026.
