September 1, 1930 – April 7, 2026
Coral Emmaline Butler Moss, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Coral was born on September 1, 1930, in Drumright, on the Sinclair oil lease. She grew up in a close-knit community and later married her high school sweetheart, Robert E. Moss, also of Drumright, on June 19, 1949. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Coral was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Robert raised three daughters: Brenda Kay Moss Hornbeek, Linda Sue Moss Drake, and Diana Leigh Moss Mosvold. She was immensely proud of her family and found her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother to five, and great-grandmother to seven beloved “Great Grands.”
Throughout her life, Coral was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. While raising her children, she worked alongside her husband at Moss Heating and Air. She later served in the Oklahoma Public School system as secretary to the principal at Hoover Junior High, and then as administrative assistant to Dr. John Butchee at Oklahoma City Public Schools. She continued her career as secretary to Pastor Don Alexander at First Christian Church and later worked for Owen Reanger at State Farm Insurance.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Coral was a lifelong churchgoer and a devoted member of Village United Methodist Church since its move to Britton Road in 1953. She loved her church family dearly and lived out her faith through service—teaching Bible studies, leading Sunday School classes, singing in the choir, and supporting youth programs, often by baking her beloved homemade cinnamon rolls.
Coral found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. She loved hunting and fishing with dear friends Gene and Janette Horn and L.B. and Betty Phillips. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Above all else, Coral adored her family. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on through them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ossie Butler; her infant sister, Katheryn Marie; her sister, Dolly Adele Butler Rodgers; and her beloved husband, Robert E. Moss.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda and David Hornbeek, Linda and Bob Drake, and Diana and Torrey Mosvold; her grandchildren, Megan Hornbeek Allen and Jeremy Allen, Daniel and Andi Drake, Heath and Julie Hornbeek, Elisabeth and Sam Kaestner, and Kai Mosvold; and her great-grandchildren, Margot, Cora, Luke, Isabella, Ella, Oliver, and Jude.
