I wish to express my condolences to Dr. McMeekin's family.  I literally owe my life to him.

Dear Don and Judy:
We are extremely saddened by the news of the passing of Dr. Scott McMeekin.  With a physician father and physician grandfather, he had a strong legacy of medicine and patient care.  As a young person, he demonstrated many of the attributes that made him successful as an adult.  We have not seen Scott since his graduation from Occidental College in 1985, but then he exhibited caring, graciousness, focus and scientific skill.

I was blessed working with Scott in California and Oklahoma. He was always warm and professional with his patients, and his sense of humor and wit made residency and work fun and memorable. (His line dancing left much to be desired) He was always available for consultation and a great teacher. He will always bring a smile to my face.

Dear Don and Judy,     You must know how much Virginia and I mourn with you and for you in the passing of Scott.  By all accounts and testimonials he was a wonderful son, a great father and family man, and a superior physician.  The photographs of his life brought tears to my eyes and I feel so deeply for your pain.  But he has left an unbelievable legacy for not only you and your entire family but also to his beloved profession and specialty.  His works and teachings will stretch on through the Institute named for him and for all the students, residents and colleagues whom he inspired.

I worked with Scott for 8 years.  In those 8 years, Scott taught me a lot in the ob/gyn field.  He would always bring an electric vibe to clinic.  We always had fun during clinics  To see him with his patients was more amazing.  He was great.  My prayers and condolences go to his family.  I will miss him.  He was truly an ANGEL

Scott was special, a loving husband and a fantastic father.  Our family will miss him deeply.   We will be reminded of his endless dimensions to life every time we see his spectacular wife and children. 

My family was never the same after the passing of our mother in 1989. Then as we all grew up and had families of our own, we rarely saw each other but when we did, Scott was the one that made us all laugh. I was blessed to be asked to move to Oklahoma with Scotts family and take care of their children. I spent 16 years taking care of the kids typically 5 days a week. I never knew all the things that my brother had accomplished. He was so humble and so private. Now that he is gone and i read all the wonderful stories of him from people he has known all the way through his college years at Oxy to the present and all the amazing things he has accomplished, i am even more proud. He has definitely left a mark on everyones life he has touched. The things i will remember when i think of my brother will be... things like the time he tricked me into thinking crisco was frosting and fed me a spoonful of it...lol or the time he saved my life when i caught on fire on Halloween and he jumped a fence and ran to tackle me in the grass to put the fire out.  The many times he patiently struggled with me through my math homework, taking me out to learn how to drive stick in my VW Bus. Or how he promised me a BMW if i lost 50 pounds :) . Also the time he took one of the white doves off our christmas tree and threw it into the window scaring the crap out of our mother and cracking himself and us kids up so badly that we must have continued to do it for years to come, because the birds that were on the tree years later were missing eyes and had several facial injuries and battle wounds  .. I have more memories of my brother than i do of my mother and  I am going to cherish every one of them, especially the day i got to say goodbye. I am going to miss him so much and every time i see a picture of that boyish smile i will have to fight back tears....

I will miss this big teddy bear of a man. I had the privilege of working with him as Gynocology Oncology Case Manager. He taught me so much over the years.  He was so gentle and caring with his patients.  Many times I saw him sit on the edge of a bed and hold his patient's hand while he talked softly to her.  He was a good teacher also.  You could see on the faces of the med students "Please don't call on me."  And he would tease the information out of them, and they would light up when they knew they had the answer.  He loved his family so much.  My heart and prayers go out to them.  The world has lost a good human being.

Scott was a great teacher  and very compassionate with his patients . I always looked forward to having him as my attending. He didn't care so much for laparoscopy and I remember him joking and saying his favorite laparoscopy was the five finger kind meaning a midline incision . However after making that comment with a smile he talked me through the removal of a twenty centimeter mass from a fifteen year old 6 foot 4 Native American girl with a laparoscope. He had inspiring confidence which spilled over to those who he taught.I will always be thankful for his big smile and quit wit and sharp mind he could go up against anyone intellectually and did it with class this I saw most openly at tumor board. Finally the best part of what I will remember is observing his interactions with Cathy and his kids he loved them! My heart is very heavy for his passing .
