Dan was a faithful Christian, loving husband, and devoted father and grandfather. First and foremost, he was a man of God, a protector of his family and country, and a role model to many throughout his life.
He retired after 24 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. As a First Sergeant, he was known as “Top” to those in his command. While stationed in the Presidential Wing in Washington, D.C., Dan came to know the Lord personally and became a Christian. From that moment on, he shared his faith boldly, leading others to Christ.
During his military service, Dan and his family moved to Oklahoma, where he attended Oklahoma Christian University on the G.I. Bill and earned his bachelor’s degree in Bible. He remained a dedicated and long-time member of the Church of Christ.
Following his Air Force retirement, Dan continued his service as a civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked as a supervisor. He later retired again after 17 years of civil service.
The word “faithful” best describes Dan—faithful to the Lord and to his family. He devoted much of his life to caring for the first love of his life, Suellen. When she became ill, he did everything possible to ensure she received the highest level of care.
Dan later found love again with Linda, and they shared 17 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling, playing card games, and spending time with their family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Ziegler; his children, Curtis Ziegler; Daina Simon (Mark); Nathan Ziegler (Amy); and Christopher Ziegler (Amanda); his stepson, Grant Hill (Vanessa); his grandchildren, Cameron Simon, Molly Ziegler, Logan Ziegler, Lane Ziegler, Ethan Hill, and Maisie Hill; along with numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Suellen Ziegler, and his parents.
Dan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
