Darlene Pagonis passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 26, 2024. She was born on October 12, 1947, to A. J. and Minnie (Fowler) Doolen. She married the love of her life, Nick Pagonis, on June 2, 1968. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church. Darlene was a 1965 graduate of Prairie Valley High School in Seminole, Oklahoma. She was a long-time special education teacher at Deer Creek Public Schools until she retired in 2013. Darlene attended Central State College (University of Central Oklahoma), graduating with a B.S. in Special Education, then continued on to receive a Master’s degree in 1970. Darlene loved to travel- especially to Greece and Maine. She is survived by her children Markella Pagonis of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; John and Alison Pagonis of Belfast, Maine; Grayson Pagonis of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; granddaughter Rowen Walsh of Belfast, Maine; brother Mark Doolen and his wife Mary Ann of Oklahoma City; sister Tina Johnson and her husband Danny of Seminole, Oklahoma, as well as aunts, an uncle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Shawnee Memory Care and Valir Hospice for their care. The Trisagion will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, 6600 Broadway Ext., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116 on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2101 NW 145th St, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73134, on January 31, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
