

Darryle Clayborne Davenport, of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed away on March 17, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on September 4, 1941, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to William Clayborne Davenport and Jaunita Alberta Cox. Darryle spent his early childhood in Oklahoma City before moving to Midwest City in 1952. Where Darryle was married to Virginia L. Reeds of Midwest City, Oklahoma, from 1960 to 1978. In 2005, he made his home in Chandler, where he remained for the rest of his life. Darryle attended Central State University and built a career in transportation trucking sales. He was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Conversation came naturally to him, and he truly enjoyed getting to know others. A man of deep faith, Darryle was a member of First United Methodist Church. His love for God guided his life and shaped the way he treated those around him—with kindness, honesty, and compassion. Darryle found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved gospel music, the color red, and spending time outdoors—especially on sunny days with family and friends or riding his motorcycle through the beauty of a national forest. His laughter came easily, often sparked by the small things, like the giggle of an infant or the playfulness of an animal. He taught those who loved him to look for the good in people, to be patient, and to never give up on what matters most. These lessons, along with his steady presence, will continue to guide his family. Darryle wished to be remembered as a kind, likable, and honest man—strong in his faith, devoted to his family, and always ready to talk and connect with others. Above all, he was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a true hero to those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clayborne Davenport and Jaunita Alberta Cox, and his brothers, Denny Davenport and Kim Davenport. He is survived by his sons, Dempsey R. Davenport and Darryle A. Davenport; his brother, Gary Davenport and wife Cassie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Taylor Davenport and Austin Bryan; great-grandchild, Finnegan Davenport, Layla Bryan and Elaina Bryan as well as one niece and four nephews. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on March 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on March 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on March 23, 2026.
