David Allen Burright, 67, of Jones, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026.
David was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He was a funny, sarcastic, and witty man who had a way of making people laugh and making sure his opinions were known. He was a man of deep faith who loved his family fiercely and loved very hard.
David dedicated much of his working life to serving his community through his work with Oklahoma County Emergency Management. He took pride in helping others and in being someone his community could count on.
Outside of work, David enjoyed the things that brought him joy: westerns, golf, drawing, sports, and cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He especially enjoyed watching sports from his favorite chair, where he could provide his own running commentary.
David never missed an opportunity to coach from the sidelines, and everyone knew exactly when he thought the coach was making the wrong call. His commentary was often unsolicited, always passionate, and unmistakably David.
Above all else, David cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Burright; his sons, Tyler Burright and fiancé Kara Clark, Daniel Burright, Brian Maine, and Amy Hebesien; and his grandchildren, Skyler Carpenter, Gunner Burright, Ariya Burright, Ethan Burright, Autumn Maine, Avery Jeffries, Tayelin Maine, Madison Hebesien, Sam Hebesien, and Jenna Hebesien. His sisters, Linda Henderson, Anita Hamilton, DeeAnn Sammons and DeeAnn’s husband, Jake; his brothers, Wayne Burright, and Wayne’s wife, Phyllis Burright, and Pat Burright, along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were made better by knowing him.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Letha Maxine Martin; his father William Dean Burright; his granddaughter, Ashlyn Lee Burright; his brother-in-law Mike Hamilton; his Aunt Lucille Ballard Shedeck; and his cousin Elwin Ballard.
David leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind laughter, stories, lessons, faith, and the love he poured so freely into the people around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave will continue through his family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on August 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 27, 2026, at Jones Assembly of God Church in Jones, Oklahoma.
Burial will be at Christner Cemetery, 10400 Waterloo Rd, Edmond, OK, US, on August 27, 2026.
Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate David’s life, share memories, and honor a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and never hesitated to tell you when he thought the coach was messing up.
Rest in peace, David. Your chair is empty, your voice will be missed, and your love will never be forgotten.
