Thank you everyone for sharing your memories and thoughts. Dad considered his friendships to be among his most treasured gifts, and I know he cherished all of you.

I met David on the first day of school, eighth grade, when he brazenly told me I was in the wrong locker!  I was not..his was below mine.  From then on we fought and confided like brother and sister all the way through high school as part of the air force base gang.  After that we lived across country from each other, but he always stayed in touch, and we were dear friends.  I miss you, David.  Your passion, love and pride in your children, love and care of your mom, joy in work, and sense of humor added much to my life. Rest in peace, David.  I love you.

So sorry to hear about David's passing.   I knew him for years and always enjoyed him.  My condolences to all of you.  He will be missed.

I met David in '71 when we were both right out of college and working for Getty Oil in Midland. Our friendship was instantaneous, and we later worked together again at Core in OKC and stayed in touch ever after. To say that David was "a character" is an understatement. Couldn't ask for a better friend. Can't believe he's gone.

I met Martino in the late 1980's, selling a prospect and worked with him into the 90's.  He was an honest and genuine individual and most definitely the best promoter in the business.  Martino was also the best rank wildcatter I ever knew, he knew how to pick the prospects, put the deal together and get them drilled.  He drilled more rank wildcats in a year than any dozen other operators you could find at the time.  Even then I thought the business needed a lot more Martino's!

I'll always remember how the staff at DSM Inc. office was like one great family with David as the wise father. I would often see his family in that office.

In the field he was a sharp operator.  Pipe setting decisions he could be tense and demanding with Martino.  I'll never forget the day in the field dropping the bar in a well on a prospect of mine he got drilled south of the Choctaw Misener Field.  We patiently waited for the expected discovery, nervously pacing the site listening for the high pressure roar.  Finally, after what may have been an hour and only getting a hiss like letting the air out of a bike tire, Martino walked over to the well head and placed his hand over the nipple arresting the flow.  He looked at me and we both knew this would not be The One.

In later years I would run into David at the OCGS library downtown.  He was still on the wildcat trail, researching data for the next project and sharing geological concepts, the latest discoveries and ideas as well as soliciting opinions which he always valued.  I enjoyed those all too brief chance meetings.

It is truly a sad loss and I wish to express my greatest condolences to his daughter and two sons, whom I've had the pleasure of meeting with the rest of the DSM family.

What a good man he was.  A man who was extremely proud of his parents and his children and who would do his best to help anyone who needed it

The 15+ years we lived next door to you were some of the best years of our lives.  You were an amazing, sharp, fun, and passionate father, friend, and neighbor.  One of our fondest memories: When you pulled PK and Ruth through Nichols Hills on skis with your car after a record snowfall - without getting caught.

David was a friend and colleague, and one of the smartest guys I've ever met. He will be deeply missed.
